Job Summary
The primary purpose of this role is to provide advanced analytical capabilities to support data science initiatives. This position gains experience in various areas including, but not limited to: predictive modeling; personalization and recommendation algorithms; natural language processing and text mining; search recall, precision, ranking, and related problems; optimization and mathematical programming with applications in labor scheduling, inventory and capacity planning, network flows, and supply chain optimisation.

Lead Data Scientist with focus on AI/ML techniques in Time Series Forecasting. He will build and deploy state of the art predictive models for use cases such as item location level demand forecast.

Solves highly complex problems that do not yet have solutions in the research and span much of the Data Science portfolio. Therefore, the individual in this role must be an expert in his/her field and confident in interacting and proposing solutions to the business. This role influences the thought process and methodology for other team members.

Also to provide advanced analytical capabilities to support data science initiatives. This position gains experience in various areas including, but not limited to: predictive modelling; personalisation and recommendation algorithms; natural language processing and text mining; search recall, precision, ranking, and related problems; optimisation and mathematical programming with applications in labour scheduling, inventory and capacity planning, network flows, and supply chain optimisation.


Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize forecasting Machine Learning (ML) models for better accuracy.
• Collaborate with other data scientists and data engineers to ensure that specifications are translated into flexible, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Research and stay abreast of state-of-the-art machine learning technologies.
• Follow code standards and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related technical field.
• 6-8 years experience in data science or 3 years direct experience building forecasting solution.
• Familiar with forecasting algorithms, such as Time Series (Arima, Prophet), ML (GLM, XgBoost), Hierarchical model (Top Down, Bottom Up), DL (Seq2Seq, Transformer), and Ensemble methods.
• Hands-on experience with building end-to-end ML models and pipelines.
• Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Airflow, Druid, Superset, Hadoop Ecosystem, MLflow, Kubeflow, GCP Vertex AI, Databricks or equivalents.
• Experience & Knowledge of large-scale data processing and distributed systems such as Hadoop and SPARK.
• Strong coding skills in Python, Spark and SQL.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Exposure in various statistical modelling, machine learning algorithm/techniques (ML)
• Experience with optimisations, debugging, fine-tuning existing applications in distributed computing environment for high performance and scalability with Big Data.
• Exposure in tools/framework to monitor and analyse ML model performance and data accuracy.
