Responsibilities

The Merchandising Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of frontline employees to merchandise orders for key customers in a fast-paced direct store delivery environment. Position is responsible for a team of Customer Service Specialists and other full-time Merchandisers, whose primary set of responsibilities is to service large volume stores, such as supermarkets, Mass Merchants, etc.

 

This role will drive superior marketplace execution and customer service, share growth and profit performance. As the manager of the Customer Service Specialists and other full-time Merchandisers, this role will have the authority to interview, hire, train, promote, and manage all aspects of the performance of the full-time Merchandising team.

 

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Coach and lead a team of full-time merchandisers on selling and display execution, merchandising standards, and ensure accurate and timely orders are submitted
  • Assign full-time merchandisers to a consistent set of large format and high-volume accounts to service on a regular basis; as needed, adjust store assignments to ensure proper service coverage for any fill-ins or backup
  • Conduct ‘work-withs/route rides’ with frontline employees to develop their merchandising and customer service skills
  • Apply knowledge of merchandising principles to drive productivity
  • Brief frontline employees on scheduling and meeting productivity goals
  • Anticipate potential customer issues; apply contingency planning to avoid customer dissatisfaction
  • Train frontline employees and utilize Pepsi Beverage Company (PBC) processes and tools
  • Interview, train, and onboard any newly hired merchandisers
  • Understand cost per unit constraints when meeting customer needs
  • Help employees prioritize the work and promote teamwork
  • Supervise daily operations, delegate tasks and monitor progress
  • Work closely with the Territory Sales Lead and Territory Sales Representative to execute sales strategy across the merchandising team
  • Solicit feedback and input from the Territory Sales Representative working alongside the Merchandising Team as part of the regular performance review process
  • Set productivity and service targets, measure performance to drive accountability

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $55,800 - $76,500 per year based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 60 periodically
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • This position is limited to persons with indefinite right to work in the United States
  • Safe driving record strongly preferred

HELPFUL EXPERIENCE:

  • Sales: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Consumer packaged goods in a direct store delivery environment: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer relationship management experience (preferred)
