Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and review financial reports for franchise stores
- Prepare financial statements for franchise owners after wind-up process
- Review Financial Statements for banner segment (including Franchisee & Franchisor) Active involvement with period end close activities including JE preparations, reconciliations & in-depth analysis.
- Take a lead role in ensuring that department objectives and initiatives are completed.
- Preparing and reviewing reconciliations and providing recommendations
- Preparing and reviewing journal entries and providing recommendations
- Process all accounting transactions for store opening, closure, and wind-up
- Continuously monitor, recommend, and implement process improvement initiatives to increases effectiveness and productivity of department
- Training Franchise stores
- Written and verbal communication with the franchise stores
- Dealing with external accountants, government audits and surveys
The candidates must possess the following skills:
- A minimum of 6 years of previous applicable industry experience, or a combination of education and experience
- Currently enrolled in an accounting designation program would be considered an asset
- Strong English communication both oral and written is required, French communication would be considered an asset
- Ability to converse comfortably with business partners
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of tools preferably Excel, Access, VBA
- Familiarity with SAP and MicroStrategy will be an asset
- General Accounting knowledge and strong analytical, problem solving, and reconciliation skills are a must.
- Ability to implement required process improvement or transitioning new work.
- Professional attitude (business attire, communication with colleagues, positive attitude)
- Strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail and commitment to excellence
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or part of a team
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and be able to manage priorities effectively
- Be flexible and able to adapt to change in a positive manner
