The senior accountant position will be responsible for completing accounting functions related to the financial operations of a mid to large hospital system in the Southern Tier of NYS. This position will report to the general accounting and/or treasury manager. Responsibilities include the preparation of, and/or collaboration in, preparing monthly financial statements, general ledger transactions, and journal entries. As a senior level position, strong analytical and accounting skills are needed to collaborate, mentor, and review staff accountant work. This position will also be responsible for completing tasks, collecting data, and reporting to external auditors and governmental agencies. Monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliations of accounts will also be required. May be required to perform intercompany transactions, reporting, and analysis. May be required to manage fixed asset systems for affiliate organizations.Qualifications
Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field
- Three years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP and auditing standards
- Experience with MS Office products and other financial software applications
- Ability to adhere to finance division leadership expectations
Preferred:
- Master's degree in accounting, finance, healthcare or similar
- 5 years relevant experience
