What will your job look like?

The MAINFRAME DEVELOPER works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Strong knowledge in Mainframe technologies and debugging code is a must have. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise. The specialist works on the migration efforts of critical, industry-class, on-house, or commercial products as well as tooling for use in project work

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•    Learn the Astadia Factory tools to perform mainframe transformations.
•    Provide expert level mainframe IMS knowledge and COBOL-IMS debugging.
•    Provide expert level mainframe COBOL or PL/I coding.
•    Document requirements, use cases, system design and code.
•    Participate in multiple concurrent projects to completion on-time and on-budget.
•    Deliver within the scope of the project within the scope of a Factory project while not compromising on quality.
•    Work closely with team members and clients to achieve desired results.
•    Thrive in an environment of collaboration and change.
•    Develops and works with the client’s mainframe specialists.
Education and Experience
•    5+ years of experience with mainframe application and IMS DB/DC technologies.
•    5+ Years of Development experience in mainframe COBOL or PL/]I coding
•    1+ Java development experience
•    A plus would be candidate with 1+ Years of Development experience using cutting edge development tools in Java.
•    BE in Computer Science or equivalent. 
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
•    Expert level in mainframe application technologies (COBOL, CICS, DB2, IMS etc....).
•    Expert level experience coding in mainframe COBOL and/or PL/I
•    Capable of code debugging, performing builds, and rollouts.
•    Exposure to or experience with third party development frameworks desired.
•    The ability to learn new frameworks in a short period.
•    Strong COBOL-IMS programming debugging skills.
•    In-depth understanding of IMS components like DBD, PSB etc
•    SQL development.
•    In-depth understanding of IMS database concepts and IMS onlines
•    Experienced in unit testing, test-driven development, integration testing, and deployment using cloud technologies.
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Experience with Waterfall and Agile Development Methodologies.
