American Express Global Card Network Platform authorizes and processes all of the company’s customer card transactions. The Card Network platform is the critical back bone for all of American Express card transactions, and is a near real time low latency system that is always available and highly resilient, processing transactions from around the world 24x7, 365 days a year. American Express is making strategic investments in new card network products and platforms to allow the company to meet its ambitious global growth agenda. American Express is looking for strong leaders and engineers to be part of high energy and efficient teams that will build and support our next generation card network systems.

As part of this role, you will join our global technology team that has embarked on building a highly available and scalable distributed systems on the cloud to support the company's long-term strategy and vision. Your primary responsibility is to build and support capabilities of our next generation distributed platform, build innovative payment capabilities leveraging the platform, aligning resources and delivery with business growth and diversification, while significantly improving service quality and cost-effectiveness. We expect the individual to be innovative and energetic with strong communications skills.

• Card Network Authorizations/Routing, Card Tokenization, Clearing and Settlement
• Omni-channel platforms and partner connectivity management
• Data Localization and Regulatory Compliance
• ATM, Debit, Credit and Push Payment Transactions, Real Time Settlement
• Platform Engineering and Foundational Capabilities of distributed systems
• High Availability, Resiliency and Performance Engineering on Cloud

Roles & Responsibilities as Engineer II: -

• Function as a team member of an agile team and helps drive consistent development and test practices with respect to tools, common components, and documentation.
• Have primary focus (80%+) on writing quality code, perform unit testing and test automation in ongoing sprint
• Build new micro-services using spring boot framework that help manages our rapidly growing data hub.
• Work to introduce new design improvements based on latest tech stack
• Improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our data pipelines
• Work on cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with Engineers across organizations.
• Build CICD pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
• Build automation for application changes and deployment for faster time to market.
• Develops deep understanding of tie-ins with other systems and platforms within the supported domains.
• Perform ongoing refactoring of code, quality assurance and testing, applying best practice methodologies and processes.
• Identify opportunities to adopt innovative technologies & ideas in development / test area.
• Provide continuous support for ongoing application availability.
• Collaborate/influence within and across teams to create successes with an innovative mindset and challenge the status quo.Minimum Qualifications:
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other related field (or has equivalent work experience).
• 4 to 6 years of very strong experience in Java development and building large scale distributed applications using spring boot framework.
• 4+ years of experience with database technologies like Kafka,Couchbase,Cassandra, Spark
• Experience with Big data technologies and NoSQL database preferred.
• Experience with Kafka messaging, Docker and Kubernetes preferred.
• Experience with automated release management using Maven, Salt, Git, Jenkins.
• Looks proactively beyond the obvious for continuous improvement opportunities.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and exploit them to their optimal potential.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels across functions, from both technical and non-technical perspectives alike.
