Job Description Summary:

This position provides guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to CME Program Directors who are physicians throughout the OhioHealth system. This position fulfills leadership, administrative, accreditation, educational and outcome responsibilities across multiple campuses as outlined by the in accordance with the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and Accreditation Council of CME (ACCME). This position is critical to supporting the mission of the OhioHealth system, to improve the health of those we serve, and critical to the CME mission of quality in educational design, implementation and outcome measurement for attending physicians. Accredited CME is required by physicians to maintain their license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio. The major function of this position is to apply educational and adult learning principles to the needs of the medical staff and apply sound fiscal, business, marketing and management principles to the daily operations of the CME Program.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Experience in healthcare education, adult learning, or similar field. With the increasing scope and complexity of CME requirements and documentation, the team leaders must have superior communication and organizational skills. The ability to prioritize work independently and to meet important deadlines is critical. 1- 3 years ’ Experience in an Administrative Healthcare setting.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
60 % PROGRAM MANAGEMENT Consults the planning, budgeting, promotion, implementation and educational outcome measurement of all CME activities Regularly Scheduled Series RSS & Conference s for the OhioHealth hospitals and affiliates. Conducts overall CME Program evaluation as required for accreditation. Responsible for the promotion of all CME sponsored by OhioHealth. Writes and updates policies and procedures in compliance with the ACCME and the Ohio State Medical Association CME accreditation requirements. Participates in strategic planning development for the CME Program to include future direction, system initiatives. Responsible for grant applications with pharma industry to acquire funding for CME activities and ensures compliance with the ACCME Standards for Commercial Support. Leads the collaboration of all OhioHealth hospitals to provide CME credit for system-wide initiatives. Consults on needs assessment, gap analysis and evaluations and adjusts program schedule based on these results. Develop Marketing promotions for CME activities. Applies for various discipline-specific credit for educational activities as appropriate. Manage and maintains electronic files of all accredited programs. Collaborates with the Hospital and System leadership to incorporate physician educational needs as identified by physician leadership, physician and patient satisfaction, patient safety, clinical quality, clinical integration, the Medical Group of Ohio, Peer Review, medical staff credentialing and others. Participates in conjunction with medical staff leadership in developing and implementing of faculty and staff development programs. Documents department success by preparing an Annual Report of the program evaluation results. Directs the planning, budgeting, development and implementation of full-day symposia and special events which include off-site local, regional and national conferences. Develop the Regular Scheduled Series CME planning document with the Course Directors annually to meet compliance. Manage the objectives, outcome measure, complete disclosures and resolve any conflict of interest. Manage regularly scheduled conferences and courses. Updates and edits policy and procedure manuals. Works with the planning committee physicians, etc. , Marketing & Communications, and other hospital departments to develop these activities, o Which may include: location determination, contract negotiation, promotional material and syllabus development; preliminary and final budget preparation including reviewing outside funding from drug/equipment companies, etc. Serves as a member of various CME Committees.

ACCREDITATION MANAGEMENT Manages and monitors compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education ACCM e , Ohio State Medical Association OSM a , and the American Osteopathic Association AO a requirements. Supervises and directs physician planning committees to ensure compliance with accreditation requirements. Interprets and applies accreditation requirements and advises course directors and physician planners of requirement changes. Prepares department, faculty, and CME Committee for site visit. Serves as key participant in site visit. Organizes CME Program Evaluation in collaboration with CME Department. Prepares required annual OSMA report. Responsible for the tracking and distribution of all attending physicians CME credits required for re-licensure.

EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES MANAGEMENT Consult with physicians to identify learning objectives related to the American Board of Medical Specialties ABM s competencies. Consults on how each specific learning objective and individual activities will be measured in terms of changes in physician competence, performance and/or patient outcomes. Identifies and recommends teaching methods. Monitors outcome data in order to facilitate continuous improvement of attending physician performance.

SUPERVISES and ASSISTING Indirectly supervises various volunteers assigned to projects. Provides necessary accreditation information and oversight for events to the planning committee.

INFORMATIONAL TECHNOLOGY Implements new databases and technology related to the administration of the CME Program, including tracking physician credits required for their licensure, accreditation compliance and educational outcome measurement. Serves as the system administrator for these programs to include installation, upgrades, day-to-day operation, functionality, and training of personnel. Manages conference and attendance database/software. Manage and maintain the internal and external website with up-to-date and accurate information. Designs evaluation forms. Analyze evaluation data for physician planners/course directors.

DEVELOPMENT Supports strategic planning through attendance at local, state and national conferences related to outcomes, educational design, adult learning styles and accreditation. Participates in City-wide CME Work group. Attends OSMA annual conferences. Continuous need for competence development within CME for the vastly changing industry.
