Building Maintenance Technician (Day Shift/Monday to Friday) - Carlstadt, NJ (Tribeca Oven)

Responsible for maintenace and upkeep of the whole facility and grounds. Inspects the premises on a daily basis to identify potential problems. Serves as the point of contact for all facilities defects and repair work. Prospective applicants must have knowledge in the various building trades including: janitorial, electrical, plumbing, drywall, HVAC, and carpentry; a minimum of three years of experience with facility maintenance and safety requirements; knowledge of and ability to operate miscellaneous hand tools, power tools.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Drywall repair – patching, painting
• Plumbing repair – toilets, sinks.
• Electrical – maintain lights interior & exterior, light fixtures
• HVAC – filters, Drive belts, check refrigerant levels.
• painting and carpentry as required.
• Maintain record of services for Water treatment system, schedule Pm or repair as needed.
• Inspect on the daily basis Air compressors, replace filters as needed and be POC for vendors.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications:

* High school and/or a GED

Experience:

* 5 to 7 years experience in concrete and masonry work.

* 4 – 5 years experience in carpentry, remodeling and painting.

* 2 – 3 years experience in plumbing trade

* 2 – 3 years experience in welding and fabrication.

* 3 – 4 years experience in commercial electrical trades.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Must possess knowledge of safety including lockout/tag-out procedures, confined space entry, shop tool safety, fire extinguisher use and welding safety.

* Must be able to ride man-lift and be able to use stairs in mill/elevator.

* Must be certifiable to use the forklift, man-lift and boom-lift .

* Must be knowledgeable and observant of food processing GMP’s, quality and sanitation practices.

* Must possess required hand tools as specified by management.

* Must be dedicated to the team concept.

* Must be willing to improve skills through continuous education.

* Must be available to work any shift as needed including weekends, overtime, vacations and holidays.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

* Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, darkness, and/or noise. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness and humidity.

* Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards, and electrical hazards.

* Must wear uniform, hard hat, hearing protection, liftbelt, electrically insulated safety shoes, eye protection, appropriate hand protection, and respiratory protection and other equipment as required by job operation.

* Must follow JSAs for each area. Must observe all safety precautions.

* Exposure to grain dust and slippery floors.

* Exposure to electrical shock from machinery.

* Exposure to noise, and possibly excessive heat and cold at times.

* Must be able to work in confined space at times.

* Exposure to caught in / between type injuries and stuck against injuries by tools and machines.

* Must be able to climb vertical ladders to 80’ and perform work within these heights.
