Entry level supervisor in a food manufacturing facility that ensures efficiency of production, while preserving the integrity and quality of our products. This position is responsible for ensuring efficiency of production line, while maintaining a safe and productive working environment for our team members and to ensure food safety.

upervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Manages discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and manages the department and personnel by supervising front line team members and communicating any procedural changes, monitoring payroll for line personnel, conducting employee evaluations, planning, and organizing activities, coordinating, and attending training seminars, maintaining labor relations, ensuring effective communication with other departments, and planning for the implementation of new products and processes.
  • Manages personnel by processing timesheets, logging attendance, scheduling manpower and scheduling vacation.
  • Monitors productivity by obtaining hourly updates from production team members, performing Layered Audit Processes (LAPs) by walking the floor and communicating with team members, attending operational meetings, reviewing production team member shifts summary.
  • Ensuring Production Reporting System (Redzone) is correctly updated during production shift.
  • Ensures efficiency and production by sampling and inspecting finished product.
  • Ensures that equipment and machinery are functioning properly.
  • Ensuring that ingredients and supplies are available and monitoring associates production levels.
  • Maintains a safe and productive working environment by maintaining and repairing equipment, realigning production lines, as necessary.
  • Provide safety training for associates.
  • Identifies, investigates, and resolves delays in shift operations, ensuring shipping deadlines are met.
  • Informs production planning department, relevant management, and other stakeholders of delays.
  • Facilitates maintenance and repairs to equipment.
  • Works with Operations Manager and other leaders to identify and address inefficiencies and opportunities for cost reduction.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience with SAP and Redzone preferred.
  • History of achievement and demonstrated effective work performance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively manage and supervise employees and/or processes in a positive manner, to achieve business goals and results.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and current related software and hardware.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carryout instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong positive people skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish verbal communication skills are a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
  • Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.
  • Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis. Also requires the ability to see; hear; and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette.
  • Bump caps, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, ear plugs, lockout devices, fall protection and any other personal protective equipment, as defined by C.H. Guenther and Son will be provided.
  • Work involves frequent exposure to time pressures, frequent change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, tedious, and exacting work, irregular work schedule and/ or overtime, noisy and/or distracting environment, working closely with others as part of a team, and on rare occasion’s emergency situations.
