Southwest University of Visual Arts seeks students who have a strong desire to succeed, the integrity to produce high-quality original work, and the commitment to realize their personal best. The Application Review Board reviews each application individually to determine the strengths of the applicant. Acceptance is determined by an assessment of the application materials submitted by the applicant.
The Southwest University of Visual Arts offers a comprehensive, need-based aid program for students who demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Student need-based financial aid is determined in a no-obligation evaluation appointment with an Education Finance Officer. There is no application deadline.
The Southwest University of Visual Arts administers several scholarships for both entering and continuing students.
All Southwest University of Visual Arts Scholarships are awarded on a first-come-first-serve basis to Bachelor of Arts degree-seeking students. All applicants must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Scholarships will be awarded in the form of a tuition credit, not cash, and are applied each semester towards a student's tuition and fees. Scholarships may not create a credit disbursed in cash to the student.
The Director of Enrollment Management coordinates student services for both campuses. Included is assistance with academic advising, placement assistance, information concerning housing, transportation, childcare options, student insurance, coping skills, and relevant areas that directly affect student success. Referrals are made when necessary.
Southwest University of Visual Arts is committed to assisting its graduates in career planning and job placement. The Placement Department actively develops and maintains relationships with employers, locally and nationally.
Students and alumni are provided with career information, resume preparation assistance, job search counseling, and, when appropriate, employment referrals. Graduates receive job leads for permanent and temporary part- and full-time placement. The Placement Department maintains complete records of all graduate employment activities.
Although Southwest University of Visual Arts cannot abide by law guarantee placement, considerable efforts are made to assist each graduate seeking related employment. High placement statistics result from Southwest University of Visual Arts' successful curriculum focused on preparing graduates for professional art and design careers.
Southwest University of Visual Arts began with two students and has grown into a regionally accredited, nationally recognized university with campuses in Tucson, AZ., and Albuquerque, NM. Southwest University of Visual Arts has thousands of graduates working all over the world and for some of the nation's most reputable companies such as Nike, CNN, Disney, Fuddruckers, Kmart E-Commerce Division, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Raytheon, Sandia Labs, and thousands of local and national agencies, design and architectural firms, and businesses.
Southwest University of Visual Arts' high standards has remained constant throughout the university's growth and development. A strong focus on traditional skills combined with state-of-the-art computer technology provides students a competitive edge in their field of study.
Program Advisory Committees comprised of successful art & design professionals and working professional instructors have been instrumental in developing and continued support of Southwest University of Visual Arts programs. The distinguished committees meet periodically to review degree programs, ensuring that the curriculum continues to meet the needs of a competitive, changing marketplace.
