Olivet College's mission is to provide an education that enriches lives intellectually, morally, and spiritually to a diverse campus community. Having attained these qualities through their educational experiences at Olivet, we hope that our graduates will embody the "divine art and science of doing good to others," as stated by the college's founding fathers in 1844.
From enrollment to graduation, Olivet College is committed to your personal, academic, and career success. How do we make this happen? Our highly qualified faculty and staff are committed to engaging with you, our students, throughout the learning process. While the learning that happens in the classroom is powerful and essential, you also grow as an individual while you live, play, and interact with your faculty and peers outside the classroom. We often form connections with students that last well beyond graduation.
Olivet College is fully accredited as an institution of higher education by the Higher Learning Commission. The college received reaccreditation for the maximum ten-year period with its last accreditation review.
At Olivet College, we understand that our students are individuals – with distinct academic and career ambitions. From the moment you take an interest in us, we take an interest in getting to know you, too. Specifically, what makes you who you are? The classes, clubs, hobbies, sports, books, art, and music you like – those things that make you unique and distinct – are essential to us because they are essential to you.
Olivet College has a long, rich history of hosting international students on our campus. Countries our students hail from include: Bosnia, China, Japan, Nigeria, Mexico, Sweden, Bulgaria, and Canada, to name a few. We would love to have you be the first person from your country to join the OC Nation!
Olivet College offers 31 majors and 24 minors ranging from Accounting to Sports Psychology, Journalism, Chemistry, Criminal Justice, Graphic Design – and much more. At Olivet College, students are sure to have the tools they need to succeed. Starting from day one, students are matched with an academic advisor personal to the study program that will stay with them through graduation and beyond. Students typically meet with their advisors during the seminar, a weekly class on Wednesdays, and other students pursuing similar degrees. Advisors are available to assist with academic planning, career preparation, creating a portfolio, and other students' needs.
Did you know there are numerous types of financial aid available to help students pay for college? Olivet offers various financial aid opportunities, awarded based on considerations such as student need and academic merit.
Olivet College is pleased to provide financial support in the form of Talent Scholarships to students who will enrich the campus community through their active involvement in and contributions to specific talent-based participation opportunities on campus.
The actual amount of a Talent Scholarship can vary depending on the student's experience and achievement, as well as the activity. Specific Talent Scholarships may award up to full tuition, fees, room, and board.
While you may apply for multiple Talent scholarships, you will be awarded no more than one. Students may be eligible for other scholarships or financial aid. The school strives to help students obtain other funding to make it more affordable for promising candidates to attend Olivet College. To be considered for a Talent Scholarship, students must agree to the specific talent-based opportunity's expectations and limitations.
Olivet College offers opportunities to get involved with – or lead – organizations from the moment you arrive on campus. At the annual Clubs and Organizations Fair, you will be able to explore what Olivet has to offer and speak with current students about how their involvement on campus has impacted their educational journey. It is not unheard of for a student like you to be the editor of our student newspaper, a Greek society member, and a Student Government class representative before the beginning of your sophomore year. Additionally, students can begin their club or organization by working with Student Life.
Navigating college is made simple by the Student Services staff at Olivet College. Students can walk in with questions and sit down with a staff member to solve problems swiftly and efficiently every weekday. There are no time limits for sessions, and appointments are not required, just another one of the perks of attending Olivet College.
The Student Success Center is focused on all students' academic success, and we have got the resources to help you achieve your goals. All of our resources are free. We provide a small computer lab, a printer, private testing rooms, and quiet study areas. But the best part of the Center is the staff who are available to help you in a variety of ways.
Olivet College has an entire office devoted to connecting students to the perfect on-campus job. Whether you are looking to build your resume or earn some extra cash, there may be an on-campus job available that fits your needs.
The student employment coordinator maintains a list of all on-campus job opportunities and a few off-campus positions within the local community.
