With a tradition of academic excellence, Massey University is the nearest thing New Zealand has to a national university. It has nearly 18,000 students enrolled on three main campuses, with approximately 17,000 national and worldwide distance learning (extramural) students. Welcome to our creative campus in the heart of Wellington. This campus has established itself as a center of excellence for study and research.

Our students have plenty of scopes to find and discover their passions by selecting from a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. We offer unique programs, flexible undergraduate and postgraduate study, and teaching excellence.

Programs are the qualifications (certificates, diplomas, degrees) that you can study at Massey. Programs are made up of courses. We are characterized by the applied nature of many of our teaching and research programs and courses. Massey offers:

  • Degrees - more than 30 first degrees
  • Diplomas and certificates - these are structured differently from a degree
  • Major, minor, double majors - you can specialize in any one of more than 340 subject areas
  • Conjoint degrees - BA / BBS, BA / BSc and BBS / BSc
  • Professional development courses and programs
  • Postgraduate study - more than 100 postgraduate programs, and strong research opportunities
  • Summer School - a range of courses on a variety of subjects.

Wherever you choose to study, you will be able to access a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. They cover everything from education to humanities and social sciences, to sciences and engineering, to arts and business. Massey has been offering distance learning since 1960. Since then, our Massey distance courses have allowed more than a quarter of a million New Zealanders to increase their knowledge, re-train or broaden their career options through distance learning. Our experience in distance learning and the services and delivery modes we have developed will help ensure you succeed.

The Centres for Teaching and Learning provide a range of services and resources to enhance student success. Our staff is committed to supporting your study, and we encourage students to take advantage of the excellent services we offer on each campus and virtually for our distance learners. The Centres support academic staff to provide an exceptional and distinctive learning experience for all students by offering world-class research-led teaching development services.
