From the moment that your child is registered at our school, we look forward to establishing a happy relationship with you. We aim to provide a pleasant and secure environment, where our children are encouraged to develop as individuals as well as acquiring sensitivity to the needs of others. We recognize that the years spent at school will play an important part in influencing your child's present and future development. As teachers and parents, we should engage in genuine collaboration based on mutual respect. To enable us to achieve our objectives, we look forward to your support and co-operation.

The school sets out to instill a high standard of work and behavior and to foster respect and a caring, sharing, attitude in the children. The school aims to:

• Have high expectations in terms of standards of work and encourage children to take a pride in their work.
• Create opportunities for each child to develop Literacy, Numeracy, Thinking, and Life Skills, encouraging children to achieve their full potential.
• Encourage children to have high standards of behavior and to co-operate with each other thus contributing to a happy, healthy, and safe environment.
• Cater for the needs of all children at school.
• Emphasize to children the necessity for mutual respect towards their peers and adults.

Help children to become more aware of their own culture and to become tolerant towards other cultures. This is our school where all those involved have a valuable contribution to make. We fully recognize that the school is an important partner in educating children for the future, where they will take their place as responsible members of society.

The Governing Body of the school has published the content and organization of the various curriculum areas as policy documents. These documents are regularly reviewed and updated according to changes in legislation and or changes in educational practice they are available for inspection from the Headteacher on request. Initial Long Term Planning covers both the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 in the National Curriculum. Medium Term Planning includes termly studies for each class. Short-term (Weekly) planning is collected from each teacher every week, by the Headteacher.

This information is available to share with the School Governors. The development of Literacy and Numeracy skills is crucial and is our main focus in every lesson across the teaching day. The School Curriculum in Key Stage 2 consists of the Core Subjects of English, Welsh - a second language, Mathematics, and Science. We teach 20% of the curriculum through the medium of Welsh. The following, Foundation Subjects are taught: Information Technology, Geography, History, Design Technology, Music, Art and Physical Education. Religious Education is taught in addition to these subjects.

The curriculum in the Foundation Phase is based on the Framework for Children’s Learning for 3 to 7 year-olds in Wales, and consists of planning in the following areas: Personal and Social Development, Well-Being and Cultural Diversity Language, Literacy and Communication Skills Mathematical Development Welsh Language Development Knowledge and Understanding of the World Physical Development and Creative Development. Religious Education is taught in addition to these subjects The school’s efforts in raising standards were recognized again by the Basic Skills Agency when it was awarded the Quality Mark 4 Award. This standard provides a framework for the continuous improvement of the basic skills of all the pupils in the school.
