The information contains outlines the school’s philosophy and organization. Far more importantly, in our opinion, is the spirit in which it is implemented. We strive to create a happy family atmosphere believing that a happy child is essential before we achieve an individual who learns and develops as a balanced individual.

There is an open door for parents /guardians at all times. Please contact the school by speaking to the class teacher in the first instance, and then by contacting me directly should you have any queries or concerns. There is a welcome at all times.

• Offer the best education within our ability to all pupils based on the National Curriculum the Foundation Phase outcomes and the Literacy and Numeracy Framework.
• Create a happy, safe environment for all pupils so that they grow and develop into confident individuals who are aware of the welfare of others.
• Enable all pupils to develop bilingually so that they may fully participate in the social and cultural life of their locality and country.
• Foster pride and love towards their locality, country, language, traditions, and history. Develop respect towards the whole world and all within it.
• Foster self-respect and self-discipline in all.
• Develop love towards learning and knowledge.
• Assist all individuals to get to know themselves.
• Encourage all pupils to make the most of their strengths and talents and to cope with their weaknesses.

It is a specific Welsh/bilingual primary school established in 1950 and moved to the present location in 1972. It is the parent's choice to send their children to us. We accept both Welsh speakers and children from non-Welsh-speaking homes. The catchment area of the school is the town of Colwyn Bay and the surrounding area. We are not permitted to accept pupils from outside the defined catchment area. Welsh is the official language of the school, the language of lessons and play. Since a considerable percentage of pupils are non-Welsh speakers, every effort is made to integrate them as soon as possible. They learn Welsh easily through activities and play repetition and imitation. They become fully bilingual before they finish school.
