Platanos College is an ‘Outstanding’ school for pupils of all abilities. Located in stunning new buildings in a newly landscaped site in south London, our academy is flourishing. Our message is straightforward: we believe in our motto, that attitude determines altitude in all human endeavors.
Pupils at our academy are hard-working, disciplined, and focused on learning. They are being prepared for the world beyond school, to develop and achieve, to become productive members of society.
Platanos College is a high-performing school for pupils aged 11 to 16 and is rated Outstanding by Ofsted. We are an academy and a member school of the Platanos Trust. Platanos College received its third, successive Outstanding Ofsted rating in 2014/2015. Over the last decade, our results have risen rapidly and we are proud of our commitment to our learners and the community.
We have an unshakeable belief that we can make a difference. We have high expectations of all in our community and believe that every learner can achieve beyond their expectations. We firmly believe that one’s attitude is the key ingredient in achieving success regardless of background or ability. Platanos College is an inclusive school and caters to pupils of all abilities. We prepare pupils and learners to take advantage of learning opportunities throughout their lives and to rise to the demands of academic rigor, high standards of scholarship, further and higher education, as well as opportunities in creative careers, the service industry and business, accountancy, and finance.

At Platanos College, our curriculum is broad and balanced to suit the needs of all the pupils we have in our care. Through this, we aim to develop pupils' intellectual, emotional, social, moral, spiritual, cultural, and physical development skills through a diverse, rich, and stimulating curriculum. Equal Opportunities and the promotion of positive attitudes towards others from different religions, cultures, economic, social, political views, and so on are central to delivery.
Our most able, gifted, and talented pupils have an accelerated curriculum offer. Middle band pupils also have an accelerated program which is more differentiated for them. Our different Centres of Excellence serve to stretch and challenge our most able pupils, whilst pupils who need additional support are taught in smaller groups with additional literacy and numeracy throughout the school week.
