The mission of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is to facilitate institutions for education and research and serve as an engine for the socio-economic development of Pakistan. Quality education and research and increased equitable access are the top priorities of HEC. There is a need to increase equitable access to higher education and improve the quality of education simultaneously. Knowledge and economic progress are interdependent. without the knowledge and intellectual pursuit progress of any country impossible. Our education and research must conform to national needs, and therefore HEC will support research relevant to the development needs of Pakistan. The establishment of the University of Poonch, Rawalakot is a remarkable step to confront the challenges.
Thirty years ago, an agriculture college was established at Rawalakot since then it has progressed and now achieved the status of a complete University.
It is a matter of great honor that the University of Poonch is located in the scenic pearl valley, Rawalakot. As a new university, the need of the students and its faculty. No stone will be left unturned to provide the best learning and working environment on the campus. Universities in the 21Ist century have been confronted with new challenges, it is a century of the knowledge economy and the innovators will hold the key to prosperity. We have to take steps in the right direction to catch up in this race. As the world, has become a global village and one cannot live in isolation, therefore we will be looking for partners both in the east and the west. Faculty and student exchange programs will be encouraged. The role of Alumni will be explored for improving academics, fund generation, and internationalization of their Alma matter. We believe that our youth has the requisite potential and we aim to realize this potential by imparting meaningful education to have a happy and prosperous community.
The University of Poonch is to build a foundation for the educational opportunities under conducive environment to take the best advantages for the identification of self-reliance, wisdom, values, human potentials for the advancement of knowledge, development of skills, and intellectuals to contribute and support the society for the betterment of humanity.
The University of Poonch, Rawalakot intends to be the premier center of excellence by adopting interactive methodologies and research while strengthening the positive historical and cultural values of the region.
