Kyungnam University is a historical university that, through its educational purpose of fostering talented experts, leaders of regional development, and independent global citizens, has turned out some 130,000 graduates who have contributed to the development of the local community, the nation, and humanity.
Our university has grown to be the top domestic research and educational establishment in the field of peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula through the 40 years of research conducted by its Institute for Far Eastern Studies, and today is also focusing investment in its specializations in the areas of 'Defense Industry,' 'Green Mechano,' 'Marine Well-being,' and 'Urban Healing.'
Kookmin College(formerly known as Kookmin Daehakkwan in Seoul) in 1946 and its relocation to Masan in 1956. Currently, KU'six colleges comprise four undergraduate divisions and forty-six departments offering degrees at the bachelor's level. In contrast, six graduate schools confer various degrees at both the masters and doctoral levels.

Kyungnam University's educational goal is to produce well-educated professionals, community leaders, and real-world citizens by guiding students to discover and form ideas about humanity, nature, society, culture, scientific theory, and its application. Well-educated professionals have integrity, creativity, and the applicable skills needed in academic activities and everyday life, and sufficient knowledge of information and technology. KU plays a leading role in producing local community leaders who serve the community, identify community needs, and provide support in various ways.
To educate students in an age of globalization, KU has agreed with each of the 83 universities listed in 23 countries, including the United States, Japan, China, etc. The agreement has students and faculty at KU interacting with their overseas counterparts.
