The Siberian Transport University, being among the orders leading universities in Russia, is pleased to welcome you both as our guest and potential partners! Since 1932, over 60,000 specialists have graduated from the University who has made a significant contribution to the development of the railway industry and Russia. Each year the Siberian Transport University is raising its status. 2017 was very special for the staff of the University; we celebrated the 85th anniversary of the University! The glorious history of NIIT-NIIZhT-STU is memorable for the older generations of this country. It is reflected in the University's graduates who have laid thousands-kilometers-long railway, numerous bridges, tunnels, and other infrastructure objects significant for the manufacturing industry. Throughout eighty-five years, Russia and, significantly, behind-the-Urals territories have been strengthening the economic might, in no small degree, due to the hard work of a prominent host of specialists, including the University's graduates. Our competent teaching staff has trained 60,000 specialists and given them a start in life! International relations have also been rapidly processing. Some European and Asian countries send their students to study here. The Siberian Transport University has been especially popular with the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, the Korean People's Democratic Republic, China, and Japan. Simultaneously, our students willingly take the practical training in foreign countries. Keeping abreast of the times, the University's staff are developing the innovative line which is strategically significant for the whole country: use of information and science-intensive technologies in the training process, creation, and introduction of modern scientific and research programs as well as further development of the training and scientific and production facilities.

An educational program of the Siberian transport University "the Construction of Railways, bridges and transport tunnels" specialization "Bridges" successfully passed the international accreditation of the Association for engineering education of Russia for five years. Currently, Siberian transport University is an industry educational complex. A part of the University complex includes:

• Institute of prospective transport technologies and Professional Development. The scientific and educational base of the University allows to carry out annually retraining of more than four thousand technical workers of railway transport and other leading branches of economy,
• Institute of Complex Research of Transport Systems (part of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences),
• Novosibirsk College of railway transport and three branches of the University - in Tomsk, Novoaltaisk, and Belovo, where students receive secondary vocational education in 9 specialties, and training is conducted in 64 working professions,
• Ten faculties, uniting 42 departments, where future commanders of production are trained for many Russian regions, near and far abroad.

The University has had a post-graduate course since 1958 and a doctor's degree course since 1994. There are 7 Doctorate and Candidate Degree Councils at SGUPS. It has a license to train post-graduates in 25 and those reading for a Doctor's degree in four majors. There are about 80 post-graduates and those reading for a Doctor's degree at the University. Nowadays, the University possesses all the facilities for training highly qualified specialists in railway transport, transport construction, economy, management, service, transport law, information technologies, and environmental protection.

The main area of scientific research in the Siberian Transport University (STU) is the railway transport issues. Scientific research of STU in this area is based on the development and implementation of joint projects and the realization of full circle research and development projects, which result in making finished products and introducing innovative technologies. The University enrolled international students for the first time. The University has recently become internationally famous: students and trainees from European and Asian countries come here to take academic courses. The University's reputation is exceptionally high in the East-Asian countries: the Korean People's Democratic Republic, the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, the Chinese People's Republic, and Japan.

STU has broad experience in training international students. The amount of international students at STU increases from year to year. Today more than 140 international students and trainees study at our University: students from the Republic of Korea, Mongolia, the People's Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Armenia and Uzbekistan, and so on. Department of International Relations of STU always helps international students with their study, accommodation, and cultural life. Significant attention is given to educational work with international students. Annually in STU carry out the Day of East in which international students actively participate.
