Esta, Sköndal Bräcke University College, is dedicated to social work studies, nursing and health care, psychotherapy, theology, and church music.
We combine practice-centered, professionally-oriented research with ethical, historical, welfare rights-related, and critically appraising studies on the interaction between society, health, organization, and the individual.
The University College was founded on January 1st, 1998, through the merger of the undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs of the Ersta Society for Diaconal Work and The Stora Sköndal Foundation. On October 5th, 2010, Bräcke Diakonia became a new part-owner.
A distinguishing characteristic of the University College is that it offers courses in which theory is combined with practice, research with studies in the field, and special attention given to questions within philosophies of life and world views, professionalization, and societal issues.
The University College has three campuses, one at Ersta, one at Stora Sköndal, and one at Bräcke in Gothenburg, with approximately 1600 students. Both campuses offer a unique study environment with a combination of old traditions and new interdisciplinary collaboration and opportunities for personal development.
Esta, Sköndal Bräcke University College, shall offer a creative educational and research environment, marked by courage and curiosity, enabling humanity’s development of knowledge and ability to work for happiness, quality of life, and the right to a life of dignity.
Esta, Sköndal Bräcke University College, provides an open and attractive academic meeting place for education and research within diaconal studies, ethics, church music, social work, theology, and health care science. Erste, Sköndal Bräcke University College, means to be associated with fresh ideas, the critical search for knowledge, ethical awareness, artistic creativity, and existential depth.
Esta, Sköndal Bräcke University College, endeavors to ensure that all staff members gain satisfaction from their work and are proud of their workplace. Members of staff are to be actively supported in their professional and personal development.
