Event details

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is one of the most important festivals celebrated in India. It is celebrated in honor of the Hindu god Ganesha, the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. The festival is celebrated on the fourth day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month Bhadrapada, which typically falls in the months of August or September.

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion by Hindus all over India. On the day of the festival, people bring home an idol of Ganesha, which is then installed in their home or temple. The idol is then worshipped with flowers, offerings of sweets and fruits, and prayers. After the puja, people take part in processions, singing and dancing to the accompaniment of drums and other musical instruments.

The festival is a time of joy and celebration, and people come together to share the joy of the occasion. People exchange gifts, sweets, and greetings with each other. It is also a time of reflection and contemplation, as people remember the teachings of Ganesha and seek his blessings for wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.

The festival ends after ten days, when the idol of Ganesha is taken in a procession to a nearby river or pond and immersed in the water. This is done to signify the passing of Ganesha from the earthly realm to the heavenly realm.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a time of joy and celebration, and it is a reminder of the importance of good values, wisdom and prosperity. It is a time for people to come together, to celebrate and to seek the blessings of the Lord.
