Event details

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti is an annual celebration of the birthday of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is celebrated on 2nd October every year, the day on which he was born in 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. This day marks the commemoration of the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, the man who devoted his life to the cause of India’s freedom struggle and inspired millions of people with his non-violent movement.

The main objective of this day is to spread the philosophy of non-violence and peace that Gandhi preached, and to promote the values of truth, justice and equality that he stood for. On this day, people from all walks of life come together to pay tribute to the great leader and to celebrate his life and works. Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions organize special programs like debates, lectures, and seminars to spread the message of peace and non-violence.

Various activities are also organized on this day to honor the great leader. Processions are taken out in cities and towns, depicting the life of Mahatma Gandhi through tableaux and floats. People also dress up in traditional Indian clothes and take part in rallies and marches to pay homage to the leader. Prayers and special functions are also held in temples, churches, and mosques to mark the occasion.

Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti is not only a day to remember the great leader but also an opportunity to learn from his teachings and to draw inspiration from his life. His message of non-violence, peace and harmony is still relevant in today’s world, and we must strive to follow his ideals and make the world a better place to live in.
